Ruhavuolle fly fishing area , like Siikakoski, is a place where the demand for fishing is at it's highest from midsummer till late autumn. As its finnish name indicates, Ruhavuolle is a fast paced current between two deep pools. At times there are more fishers than there is space. During the worst rush, from the end of August till October, one may have to wait three hours for a turn. Every year the current yields numerous large salmon. The lodges are evenly spaced throughout the whole area, although on high water it becomes near impossible to fish the lower part with any success. If the water level is extremely low, it'll be difficult to fish the upper part as the water nearly stands still.

The fishing season

The season at Ruhavuolle begins usually in late May as sea trout reaches the upper parts of the Siikakoski fork. In a good year June gives a multitude of fine sea trout on both sides of the 5 kg mark. (11 lbs.) . The salmon run begins soon after summer solstice. The best time at Ruhavuolle is September - October considering the amount of fish caught, but those fish are almost invariably dark and stationary. The fishing season ends in the late autumn by the river either freezing or flooding.
