Among historical atmosphere and unique riverside nature, Langinkoski offers salmon fishing "on the footsteps of the Czar." The imperial fishing lodge has survived in its original condition and the interior tells us about the life of the russian imperial family in the end of the 19th century.
A plaster cast adorns the wall of the lodge, depicting the largest salmon ever caught on Kymi river. It was taken at Langinkoski in the turn of the century and weighed spectacular 35 kg (77 lbs).
Nowadays Langinkoski is also known for its abundance of sea trout . Innumerable clear, recently returned sea trout have been lifted from the torrents. Langinkoski is arguably the best sea trout whitewater in Finland. This is not just an empty boast, after all it offers not only quality fishing with results, but also fabulous scenery and a sense of history.
In the olden days Langinkoski was fished with drag nets . Now you'll only see fly fishers , who continue the centuries old fishing traditions on Kymi river and Langinkoski.
Langinkoski is a nature reserve protected by the Ministry of Forestry and the fishing is administered by Villi Pohjola.
